Courthouse Weddings: Simple, Special, and Beautiful
There’s something so meaningful about a courthouse wedding — the simplicity, the intimacy, and the pure focus on your love and commitment to each other. If you’re dreaming of a day that feels genuine, heartfelt, and stress-free, a courthouse ceremony might be exactly what you’re looking for.
As a wedding photographer, I’ve captured so many courthouse weddings for couples who wanted to make it official in a way that felt true to them. And on a personal note, I chose to elope myself (not at a courthouse, but in a small, simple setting), and I loved every moment of it. We made our day special with a photographer to document it, a small dessert for the two of us, and it was absolutely perfect.

Megan & Brownie
I absolutely loved working with these two! From the moment we started, it was so easy to see how much they adore each other. They spent the morning laughing and soaking in every little moment together, and it felt like I was just hanging out with two friends in love. They chose to do a first look and share private vows before their civil ceremony, which made the day feel even more personal and meaningful. Megan’s bouquet even had tiny charms for each of their pups so they could still be part of the celebration. Every detail reflected the thoughtfulness and love they put into not only their wedding day, but into their relationship as a whole.
We met at the Denton Courthouse early in the morning, just as the sky started glowing with the soft colors of a cotton-candy sunrise. It was quiet, and that peaceful start to the day set the perfect tone for their courthouse wedding. I helped Brownie get into position, facing away from the parking lot so Megan could walk up behind him for their first look. The moment she tapped him on the shoulder was so full of emotion, just the two of them taking in that quiet, joyful start to their wedding day.
They chose to exchange private vows on the front steps of the Denton Courthouse, surrounded by the beautiful stone columns that framed the scene perfectly. I loved capturing how the light hit them just right, highlighting the emotion of the moment. One of my favorite images from the morning includes the courthouse clock in the background, marking the exact time they said their vows; a subtle but meaningful detail that tells part of their story.
Afterward, we made our way inside the newer Denton County Courthouse for their ceremony with the Justice of the Peace. The intimate setting allowed them to focus entirely on each other, and it was such a joy to document those candid smiles and the quiet moments that followed.
