If you’re starting to plan your engagement session and wondering where to take photos, you’re in the right place. The DFW area has so many incredible options—from quiet nature spots to modern city backdrops and lakeside views. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite engagement photo locations across Dallas, Fort Worth, and beyond to help you find a setting that fits your personality and style. Each one offers its own charm, whether you want something timeless and romantic, fun and urban, or relaxed and natural.

Flower Mound, TX

Murrell Park sits right along Grapevine Lake and is a fantastic spot if you want a mix of water views, open fields, and wooded trails. I love it for sunset sessions—the light on the water is magical. The trails and docks provide variety, so we can capture both relaxed walking shots and more intimate, posed moments.

While it does have a small entrance fee, it’s worth it for the variety of locations and the beautiful, controlled environment it provides.

3. Tarrant County Courthouse & Downtown

Fort Worth, TX

The Tarrant County Courthouse is a Fort Worth classic and perfect if you’re drawn to historic architecture. The grand stone building, columns, and steps create a timeless backdrop, and pairing that with nearby downtown streets gives a mix of formal and urban vibes.

I often suggest couples dress a little more polished for this area—suits, blazers, or elegant dresses really pop against the courthouse’s historic look. The streets and small plazas nearby give us opportunities for candid, city-style shots.

I especially love this area in spring when wildflowers are in bloom, but the neutral tones of fall and winter also photograph wonderfully. It’s peaceful and feels like your own private escape.

Adriatica in McKinney brings a European flair to your engagement photos without leaving Texas. The charming streets, colorful buildings, and small lake make it feel like you’re wandering through a little old-world village.

I usually start near the insurance building and work my way around the square, capturing different textures, colors, and angles. Every corner feels like it could be a scene from a storybook.

White Rock Lake is one of my go-to spots in Dallas because it’s so versatile. There’s water, open fields, docks, and plenty of trees that look different every season. My favorite area for engagement sessions is near the filter building—it’s peaceful and has the prettiest dock views, especially on overcast days. Winfrey Point is another great option if you want a mix of lake and greenery with soft golden light.

This location works beautifully for couples who love relaxed, natural photos with a little variety in the background.

10. Highland Park

Highland Park, TX

Highland Park has some of the most beautiful greenery and architecture in the DFW area, and it’s packed with spots that photograph perfectly in every season. The neighborhood feels peaceful and romantic, which makes it ideal for timeless engagement photos.

Prather Park is one of my personal favorites. The stone steps, small bridge, and tree-lined paths give it a storybook charm, especially when flowers start blooming in spring. Because of all the shade, I usually suggest starting the session a little earlier than golden hour to get the best light.

Lakeside Park is another wonderful option if you prefer more open space and water views. It overlooks Turtle Creek and has beautiful bridges and tucked-away pathways that make for soft, natural portraits.

Other nearby favorites: Flippen Park, Turtle Creek Park (Arlington Hall is located here!), and Reverchon Park—each one offers its own unique mix of greenery and charm.
